Jordan Davis Had A Big 2022, But His Highlight Was Not Music
Jordan Davis had an incredible 2022. Among the highlights were winning a CMA Award for Song of the Year for his multi-week number one song “Buy Dirt” featuring Luke Bryan and enjoying sold-out headlining shows. However, the biggest highlight came offstage and out of the recording studio with his one-year-old son, Locklan James (Lock for short.)
Jordan told us of his big year when we interviewed him last week, “You know, professionally 2022 was, even outside of the life of ‘Buy Dirt,’ I think we put a lot of other songs out that did amazing things, and we did a headline tour that did really, really well. You know, for me, that’s a huge gauge if we continue to go back to cities and play shows and the crowd grows, like that’s a good gauge of music connection for me. And obviously, the highlight being standing up on stage at the CMA Awards with my brothers, with my brother and two of my best friends in town, that was pretty amazing professionally.”
He smiled, “Personally, it was a busy year. We played a lot of shows, but obviously, my son, getting to see him kind of come into his own, start walking, calling me Dada, it’s gonna be tough to beat that in any of the years to come.”
Davis’ latest single, “What My World Spins Around,” nears the top of the country charts this week. The song is from his upcoming album, Bluebird Days, available February 17th.
Recently, Jordan said that his latest single celebrates his family. He said, “Once we landed on that idea — I think it was Ryan’s idea — we kind of thought back to younger us, and the things that my world revolved around were sports, football, hunting, and fishing. That was priority number-one in everything. Even when me and Kristen had just started dating, it was still music.”
He added, “And to have ‘What My World Spins Around,’ maybe it could be the kiddos showing up that I’m kind of like, ‘Man, now everything I do is because of them and for Kristen.’ I think that’s one reason I like this song so much. It’s such a look back on what I used to be about to where I am now.”
