Beautiful North Atlantic Right Whale Video Thrills Clearwater Marine Aquarium Researchers
Beautiful North Atlantic Right Whale video thrills Clearwater Marine Aquarium researchers.
The Clearwater Marine Aquarium says it’s the first sighting for the 22-23 Season. They team up with NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) for the aerial surveys. This mommy-daughter pair was spotted near St. Catherine’s Sound off the Georgia coast on Dec. 7.
Researchers tell us there are less than 350 of these whales left in the wild. Our coastline in Florida, along with Georgia and South Carolina is designated as a Critical Habitat to help protect these endangered North Atlantic Right Whales. Scientists believe this is Calf #7 for mother, Medusa. They believe she is about 42 years old. Experts say these massive beauties can live up to 70 years or longer.
