Tampa Police Chief Mary O’Connor Gets The Boot

Tampa Police Chief Mary O'Connor gets the boot. Mayor Jane Castor asked for the Chief's resignation, and got it. This comes as a big bummer for the Mayor, after she wanted to make an example of giving someone a second chance.  There was another incident years ago, and O'Connor said something like, she was younger then and careless.  The Mayor did give her a second chance. I thought that was really cool. But then this. Well. This time it cost her the sweet $192,920 salary. Maybe that's why the Chief said in her resignation letter she was resigning “with great sadness.” What a mess. We told you about the Golf Cart incident a few days ago. Check out the video below. Check Out Sanding Ovations Treasure Island Beach. Did you l know Florida Governor Jeb Bush proclaimed Treasure Island as the Sand Sculpture Capital of Florida in 2001? And, Treasure Island was home to the World’s Largest Sandcastle in 1985?

All this sand action helped launch the creation of Sanding Ovations. Our our little sand filled World famous sand sculpting exhibition and competition. Master sand sculptors from around the world shovel on Treasure Island and create these sand masterpieces for all  to enjoy.

This year's Sanding Ovations theme, “Once Upon a Time.” You can check it out Nov. 17-20, 2022.  And some good news. This year’s event will extend into a second weekend, Nov. 26-27.
