Shark leaps on top of fishing boat.  This video is crazy. A couple of guys were stunned when a large shark leaped on top of their boat while they were fishing.
The group were fishing for kingfish in New Zealand. They hooked one on the line and that’s when a mako shark got ahold of it. They were fighting the shark and the captain of the boat warned them, if the shark jumps in the boat, get out of the way. Well, that’s when it happened, the shark leaped out of the water and landed on the front end of the boat.
A video recorded the entire event while it happened.
There are two types of mako sharks, shortfin and longfin. They grow to around 13-feet long and are classified as endangered by the IUCN Red List. They are known for leaping high out of the water when hooked on a fishing line in an attempt to escape, which has made them a popular game fish.
The shark looked to be around eight or nine feet in length and weighing about 330 pounds. It was only on top of the boat for about two minutes before thrashing around and eventually fell back into the water.
They were all lucky it happened on the front of the boat where no one was standing and they didn’t have to get close to the shark to help it off. It all ended up working out.
