Florida Spends $70 Grand To Protect Gandy Beach
Florida Spends $70 Grand To Protect Gandy Beach. It’s disgusting what people do, right? We all love out beach time. But the beach along Gandy has been piling up the trash to the tune of 8,000 pounds a day. People are parking on and destroying mangroves, and leaving a nasty trash trail. Thankfully the Florida DOT has been installing over 800 wooden poles to guard the shore, and we hope it will cut down on the number of people on the beach overall. The project will take a few weeks, and be followed up with planting more mangroves in areas where cars once parked, often overnight. Price tag for the project near $70,000 bucks. There is still plenty of parking along Gandy Beach, and beach access for pedestrians. It’s looking real nice. Source TBT
