A survey from Purdue University and GoBankingRates.com had determined the amount of money you need to be ‘Happy’ in Florida. The survey found that you need a minimum annual salary of $105,315 to be happy in Florida.

The study also found that the ideal income for happiness in North America is $105,000, which is right where Florida ranks. GoBankingRates says about Florida, “The Sunshine State is doing pretty well, despite previously high unemployment during the pandemic. Right now, unemployment is at 3.2%. While you do need to make a bit more than $105,000 to be happy here, well-being is possible at $60,180.”

The survey used each state’s cost-of-living index and used the $105,000 figure as the “benchmark.” The states were then ranked from least to most amount of money needed to be happy. Unemployment and crime rates for many states were used informational purposes only.

GoBankingRates added, “It’s important to keep in mind, though, that ‘happiness’ is subjective. The cost to live comfortably can vary from person to person.”

The state that has highest required salary needed in the survey is Hawaii. $202,965 is the salary needed to be ‘happy’ and that number is just under double that of the rest of the country.

New York requires a salary of $155,610 to be ‘happy’. The unemployment rate of 4.6% in New York, but the survey does say that a New Yorker can still find happiness at $88,920.

California is another state where you need a lot of money to be’ happy’ and that is $149,310. California has a high cost of living, so the amount of money is justified. At least the amount of money you need to be ‘happy’ in Florida is not as much as those states.

The state with the lowest salary need to be happy is Mississippi. You only need $87,465 a year to be happy and it is due to the state’s low cost of living, which means you can get more for your money. Other states where the salary needed is below $95,000 are Kansas, Oklahoma and Alabama.
