New Pinellas County School Bus Drivers Can Get A $1,000 Bonus

New Pinellas County School Bus Drivers Can Get A $1,000 Bonus. The county wants to fill 5o driver positions, and they are not the only ones hiring. So, they’re dishing out a $500 bonus after training, and another $500 at the end of the school year.

There is a National School Bus Driver shortage. Earlier in the year they offered a $1,000 bonus to other employees who would stay an entire year. Whatever it takes, right?  Most districts are taking action to attract and retain bus drivers and other workers. Hillsborough had a job fair, offering better salaries, and current employees a bonus for referring new drivers.

Pasco County is shuffling school schedules to help fewer drivers pick up more kids. Other districts in Florida doing the same, as they say better pay and incentives are not always effective.
