NASA has identified two places in Tampa Bay where these air taxis can takeoff and land. The two locations are Water Street in downtown Tampa and Westshore for possible Vertiports. Tampa and St. Pete have been trying to attract companies that will make our area a testing ground for these air taxis or as they are known in technical lingo: electric vertical takeoff and land aircraft or EVTOL.
These EVTOL aircraft are like over-sized drones. One manufacturer projects to have their fleet flying by 2025.
