Time to update the Guinness Book of World Records! A Florida Man has set a new world record watching the latest Spider Man movie.
Our Florida Man, Ramiro Alanis, originally achieved the record for “most cinema productions attended of the same film” when he watched the movie Avengers: End Game 191 times. In 2021, Ramiro lost that title when he was surpassed by someone who watched “Kaamelott: First Installment” 204 times. Ramiro knew that he had to either go big to regain the record or go home.
He went big!
When Spider Man: No Way Home hit theaters in December of 2021, Ramiro began his quest to achieve the new record. According to the rules: “movie must be watched independently of any other activity.” That means no bathroom breaks, no using your smart phone, and no naps during the dull scenes! He went all out by attending five back-to-back screenings for the first few weeks. On March 15, 2022, Ramiro had watched 720 hours of Spider Man: No Way Home or a total of 292 times! A new record!
Ramiro pursued the record in honor of his late grandmother, Juany, according to Guinness. “She was my #1 supporter and I want to remain the record holder,” he said in the news release. He estimates that he spent $3400 on movie tickets during his record run. No estimate on what he spent on popcorn, candy, or drinks!
