The Tampa Bay Rays beat the Oakland A’s 9-8 on Tuesday night, but the highlight of the night was Brett Phillips hitting a homerun and his biggest fan, Chloe Grimes, calling the homerun on TV. Brett was brought to tears by Chloe, who is a 8-year-old Rays fan who is battling cancer for the second time in her life.
Chloe Grimes threw out the first pitch to Brett and Chloe gave Brett a softball and a handwritten note. She also gave Brett a bracelet that read, “Rally For Chloe Our Warrior Princess” on it. Brett gave Chloe a signed Rays jersey with Warrior on the back.
Chloe was a guest of the Rays on their Tuesday’s Champion from the Children’s Dream Fund. Chloe is a member of the Fossil Park softball team in St. Pete and she was joined at the game by her teammates.
