Carrie Underwood may have won a Grammy on Sunday (4/3) for her gospel album My Savior, but it was still a sad day for the superstar as she lost her longtime dog and companion, Ace.

Carrie posted several photos of her precious dog, including one of her kissing his head and another in front of the Christmas Tree, to Instagram yesterday (4/4). She wrote, “Last night my sweet Ace left this world…he will forever live on in our hearts and be forever missed. He was there for me when I was on my own trying to figure out life when it was at its craziest! He was with me through 3 houses, 6 tours, and 2 kids… always ready to snuggle and play…through all the highs and lows. He was a true friend and a good boy till the very end. I love you, sweet Ace…see you on the other side…”

Some of Underwood’s country music friends and fans commented on the sad post, including Miranda Lambert, “So sorry. I know how bad that hurts. Sending love your way.”
