Mets player lucky to be alive. He is lucky to be alive. And his wife watched the crash happen from another vehicle. What a crash. She says “I thought I watched my husband die in front of me.”
New York Mets player Pete Alonso said he was hit by a driver who ran a red light in Tampa on Sunday. According to his wife’s Instagram, Haley Alonso says a distracted driver was driving at a high speed when the they hit Pete Alonso’s truck in Tampa. She said she was in a vehicle behind him, and witnessed the entire thing. Can you imagine? She posted the aftermath on her Instagram.
Reports say the driver was headed northbound on Manhattan Ave. when they collided with Alonso, who was traveling eastbound on Euclid Ave. The driver apparently collided with the passenger side of Alonso’s truck, which caused it to flip.
The Mets first baseman said his truck flipped three times after the impact. TPD says the accident happened at around 6:30 PM on Sunday. Apparently, both Pete and Haley were headed to spring training at the time of the crash. TPD says both Alonso and the other driver both sustained minor injuries.
This Mets player is lucky to be alive. On Tuesday, reports say Alonso said he was “thankful to be alive” from the spring training center in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
