In part, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser at Walt Disney World Resort is an immersive-theater experience playing out over the course of two nights. The setting for this first-of-its-kind immersive adventure is the Halcyon starcruiser, a vessel with a lengthy history in the Star Wars universe. Over the course of their stay, guests have a chance to explore this magnificent ship and discover some of its secrets as their personal stories unfold.
Built nearly three centuries ago on Corellia – in the same shipyards that produced the famed Millennium Falcon – the Halcyon starcruiser offers an expert crew with deep knowledge of the galaxy’s space routes. Its clean, elegant lines are reminiscent of Leia Organa’s personal ship, the Tantive IV, while evoking the glitz of high galactic society.
Over its lifetime, the ship changed hands many times and was used for various purposes, from covert diplomatic missions to Imperial engagements to Hutt-sponsored casino cruises and more. Tales from these different eras of the ship’s history are already being told in other Star Wars stories, including:
The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser narrative takes place between blockbuster films “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” Guests discover what happens to Rey and Kylo Ren following the devastating battle of Crait in a storyline that interacts with and complements Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Passengers become part of the action when they step aboard the ship, which has been restored to its original glory by Chandrila Star Line to re-create its maiden voyage from the Core World of Chandrila to the far-flung Outer Rim destination of Batuu. The starcruiser is once again a gleaming example of the finest craftsmanship the galaxy has to offer – a place to relax, to explore … and to have an adventure.
