London-bound flight makes u-turn back to Florida. Remember when your parents said, “don’t make me turn this car around?” Well, pilots have to deal with grown children every day. So this pilot actually did turn the plane around.

An American Airlines flight was already on its way to London Heathrow Airport from Miami International Airport when it had to turn around mid-flight, according to the airline. Apparently, a passenger refused to wear a mask, which caused pilots to make a U-turn. You may have heard the slogan, “you are why we fly.” But this is more like, “you are why we turn around.”

The airline said in a statement,

“American Airlines flight 38 with service from Miami (MIA) to London (LHR) returned to MIA due to a disruptive customer refusing to comply with the federal mask requirement.”

Police met the passenger at the gate upon arrival but were not arrested, according to a report from NBC 6 in Miami.
