Healthy Fast-Casual Salad Chain Sweetgreen Coming To St. Petersburg
OK, we have to admit that we are trying to eat better. So when we saw this, we were intrigued. The California-based healthy fast-casual salad chain Sweetgreen is coming to St. Petersburg.
We dug deeper into what Sweetgreen is all about. Here’s what we found on their website:
“When we were in school, there were two choices: food that was slow, expensive, and fresh—or fast, cheap, and unhealthy. We saw an opportunity to create a business where quality was never sacrificed for convenience. On August 1st 2007, two months after graduating, we opened Sweetgreen in Washington DC, and served our first customers with a vision to reimagine fast food.”
They even have a video:
What’s cool is that Sweetgreen is more than salads, they have some tasty sounding bowls. The fish taco bowl and the buffalo chicken bowl caught our eye. They also feature local specialties at their different locations. The Miami-exclusive dish: citrus avocado shrimp on a bed of sweet potatoes, tomatoes, red onions, shredded cabbage, cilantro, tortilla chips, baby spinach, warm quinoa and ceviche dressing-looks amazing and hopefully makes it to our side of the state! One can only begin to wonder what kind of local-themed salads and bowls Sweetgreen would create for Tampa Bay?
Sweetgreen has already announced a location in Tampa’s Hyde Park Village. The St. Petersburg Sweetgreen location will be located on 1114 Central Avenue. There’s no timeline yet on when they will be open but we’re hoping it will be soon!
