The things friends do for each other! Now we know why Tom Brady refused to leave Sunday’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers game early.
Towards the end of Sunday’s game versus the Carolina Panthers, the Bucs had a pretty solid lead. The coaches were considering resting Tom Brady and letting backup Blaine Gabbert gets some playing time. Brady wanted to play some more. You see, tight end Rob Gronkowski was very close to hitting some performance bonuses. Gronk would collect a cool $500K if he got 55 catches and another $500k if he got 750 receiving yards.
Brady helped his buddy hit those bonuses totaling $1 million!

And in typical Tom Brady fashion, he had plenty of great things to say about Gronk. “He’s amazing, I mean, what he’s done this year,” said Brady. “He just, the guy’s an incredible player, he’s a great teammate, and I think what he does day in and day out to prepare himself is what blows me away. I think he’s the greatest tight end in NFL history. What he does in the run game, the pass game, the kind of teammate he is, he’s amazing.”
Here’s what Gronk had to say about his payday:
Hey Gronk, if you have an extra seat at the dinner, we’d love to join you!
