All good things must sadly come to an end. A Tampa Bay NASCAR driver has decided to retire at the end of the 2022 season.
His car is number 10 but Aric Amirola is number one on our hearts. The Tampa native has decided that the 2022 racing season will be his last. “To be the best in this business you’ve got to be selfish and for the last 37 years my life has always revolved around me and what I needed to do,” Almirola said. “I want to be present. I want to be the best husband and father, and that to me means more than being a racecar driver.”
Aric made his NASCAR national series in 2005, running in the Truck Series. He made is Cup debut in 2007 and became full-time Cup driver in 2012 with Richard Petty Racing. Aric scored his first victory in 2014 at Daytona International Speedway. He has been racing for Stewart-Haas Racing since 2018 in the number 10 Smithfield Foods car. Aric has made the playoffs every year since joining Stewart-Haas Racing.
Aric turns 38 in March and retiring at the end of the upcoming season will allow him to spend more time with his wife, son, and daughter. We wish Aric Amirola and his family all the best!
