Tampa Bay Humane Society’s Longest Resident Finally Gets Forever Home
It took a while but 2022 started with good news for one pup. Tampa Bay Humane Society’s longest resident finally got a forever home!
Rover was a 6 year old hound mix that was brought into the Humane Society of Tampa Bay (HSTB) July 2021. He was found as a stray and tested positive for heartworm. As Rover waited for his forever home, he became a favorite of the staff and volunteers at HSTB. “He was great, he loved all the volunteers, he got very excited when we took him out on his morning walk, but people just weren’t bonding with him at all,” said Sherrie Silk, CEO of HSTB.
But Rover waited to be adopted…and waited. He was there for six months, seemingly going on forever. Until New Year’s Eve, when a couple from Pinellas County came in and Rover melted their hearts. Now he is part of their family and living his best life. See Rover leave HSTB and head to his new Tampa Bay forever home here:

Over 12,000 animals were adopted in 2021 from HSTB, and we’re happy that Rover was one of them!
