Tampa International Airport debuts curbside express lanes. If you’re planning on traveling from Tampa International Airport and have only carry-on luggage, you might consider looking into this. The new Blue Express Curbsides are lanes dedicated to passengers who don’t have checked bags. This is new to the airport industry. There are eight of these type of lanes and they’re expected to open November 16, just in time for the Thanksgiving rush.

The lanes bypass the ticketing and bag claim levels, speeding passengers’ routes to their flight level.

Tampa International Airport CO Joe Lopano said:

“Passenger needs and expectations are changing. Our Blue Express Curbsides will better serve our guests and enhance an already smooth experience. On top of that, we’ll also be making our Main Terminal more efficient, decongesting busy areas and helping us prolong the life of our facilities.”

The curbsides will be available on the Blue Side. The new lanes serve passengers flying American Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Copa Airlines, Cayman Airways and Swift Air. The Red Side will be added in the next few years, and is expected to open in 2025.

It’s a pretty simple new way to get to your flight. Take the Blue Express Curbside lanes by following the signs for Blue departures (or arrivals). If you have no baggage to check, stay in the left ‘Express’ lane. Enter the doors from the Express Lanes and go up one escalator or stairs flight for all gates.

If arriving at Tampa International Airport, drivers can pick up travelers without a checked bag at the Express Pick-Up Curbside lanes for arrivals.

If you DO have bags to check, follow the signage for the traditional full-service curbs.
