The FBI office released a statement and said that remains found in a Florida nature reserve are those of Brian Laundrie.
Laundrie went on the run last month and what confirmed the remains were his dental records.
The remains were found at T. Mabry Carlton, Jr. Memorial Reserve and Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park.
Steve Bertolino, the attorney representing the Laundrie family, confirmed the parents were notified of the identification Thursday.
Brian Laundrie was the lone person of interest in the disappearance of his fiancée Gabby Petito. The couple had been on a cross-country road trip together out west and Laundrie returned home without Petito.
Petito was officially reported missing on Sept. 11. Her body was found in Wyoming on Sept. 19 and her death was ruled homicide by manual strangulation.
