A St. Pete Beach hockey player got a once-in-a-lifetime call from the Tampa Bay Lightning. Now he has the chance to make his dreams come true!
Avery Winslow has been a Tampa Bay Lightning fan since he was a little kid. Growing up in St. Pete Beach, he laced up his ice skates when he was only 6 years old. Avery loved the game. Practicing, watching, and learning while watching the Bolts on TV.
“I watched every game I could put on,” he said, “and a lot of the guys I grew up watching, I have watched for years. Watching their growth over the years has been cool to see.”
Avery is now 19 years old and has been pursuing a career in hockey. A few months ago while on vacation he received a call.
“I was actually on a family vacation in Ocean City, New Jersey… and Tampa called during the draft and asked me if I would come to camp so it was definitely a dream come true,” Winslow said.
That’s right, the team he grew up watching invited him to be part of their prospect team. You can see Avery and the rest of the Bolts prospects take to the ice at Amalie Arena this Saturday at 2PM. It’s all part of the Lightning Launch Weekend.
Good luck to Avery and all of the Lightning’s prospects!
