Kristen and Jeff met online and went on a date to The Canopy in St. Pete and Kristen told us that the conversation was good. Kristen hasn’t been able to get touch with Jeff since the date and she thinks she’s being blown off. We got Jeff on the phone and asked why he isn’t calling her back.

Dating can be scary, but you have to put yourself out there to find “the one.” Here are six dating tips to follow to increase your chances of finding your “happily ever after!”

• First Impressions Matter:

  This even starts with setting up the date. Do they have a plan? How do they dress for the date? How do they greet you at the beginning of the date? Do they make eye contact?

• Be Open, But Don’t Overshare:

  Be open to people that you may not think are your type (if you have a type) and really listen and ask questions. Also, be really truthful about who you are. No need to impress anyone, just be yourself!

• Put Your Phone Down:

  You may have met them online, but put your phone down and focus your attention on getting to know your date. Also, if your date is more enthralled with their phone than you, it might be a red flag.
• Let Your Friends & Family Set You Up:

  Who knows you better than your friends and family, right? Don’t be afraid of the blind date friend set-up. You never know!

• Trust Your Gut:

  Yes, it’s great to give people a chance, but if there is something telling you that this may not be the right person for you, there is a good chance that your gut feeling is right.

  For a first date, meet at a public place and keep your wits about you so you can make good choices. Also, tell a friend or family member the name of the person you are going out with and where you are going for the date.
