How Much Is Rent Going Up In Tampa Bay?
How much is rent going up in Tampa Bay? If you’ve been trying to move, you know. It is a lot! Florida is outpacing the rest of the country in population growth. The numbers are big. People want to move here.
My wife Lisa and I have been realtors for years, and she has a business managing over 150 properties. In years past, the average was about a dollar a foot. So, a 1,200 sq. ft. house would cost you “about” $1,200 (add or subtract for location and amenities). Many of our units this size are now closer to $1,500 to $1,800 per month. Yep. It’s crazy. But we don’t determine the price, the market does. Supply and demand. That simple.
ABC Action News says Pinellas County Rents have gone up 20% on average. Some of our nicer homes with amenities and great locations (including schools) have increased close to 50%. Some 1 bedroom apartments in Pinellas are renting for $1,600 a month. You can, or could have bought a house for that 2 years ago.
