The Tampa Bay Lightning announced the team’s 2021 Preseason Schedule. The NHL isn’t wasting any time getting back on their regular schedule after the pandemic shifted their timelines and condensed last season. Bolts hockey will be back in just 71 days!
The Lightning will kick off the 2021 preseason slate on September 28 at PNC Arena in Raleigh with a playoff re-match against the Carolina Hurricanes. They will then play their first home game on September 30 against the Nashville Predators. Tampa Bay will close out its 2021 preseason schedule with another playoff re-match featuring three consecutive games against the Florida Panthers, including one at Orlando’s Amway Center on October 5. The Lightning and Panthers last played in Orlando on September 27, 2018, a 6-2 Bolts win.
Below is Tampa Bay’s full preseason schedule:
In other news, this weekend the Lightning traded Barclay Goodrow to the New York Rangers for a draft pick next year. Barclay was going to be an unrestricted free agent later this month, so at least the Bolts were able to get something in return for Goodrow.
The team also released their list of protected players for the upcoming NHL Expansion Draft on Wednesday. The Seattle Kraken will choose one player from each NHL team to add to their roster.
Protected players that Seattle cannot pick:
Nikita Kucherov (NMC), Steven Stamkos (NMC), Victor Hedman (NMC), Andrei Vasilevskiy, Brayden Point, Anthony Cirelli, Mikhail Sergachev, Ryan McDonagh, Erik Cernak
Notable to mention that leaves the following players vulnerable to being chosen by the Seattle Kraken, many of whom are fan favorites: Ondrej Palat, Alex Killorn, Yanni Gourde, Tyler Johnson, Ross Colton, Mathieu Joseph, Alex Barre-Boulet and Cal Foote
