So, restaurants are back. Yay. Big time. Went out for nice dinner last weekend. The problem was the super long wait to be seated. Yea, there were quite a few people, but not enough waiters, so some tables sat empty as we waited an hour. Blame the pandemic?
Now we have another problem. Production lags due to the pandemic are raising food prices. One restaurant owner says she pays more than double for chicken wings what her cost was before the pandemic. Chicken wing sticker shock!
Restaurants must pass along the cost. Those that survived. Look for more of the same with chicken, beef, and seafood. Also higher costs on some liquors too. So, drink up. Higher gas prices (and still rising) and shortfall of long haul truckers are also to blame for price jumps.
This may take a while, but we’ll be OK, in time. I’m hungry. Let’s go eat. Can I borrow $50?
