The movie, which reunited Hemsworth with Oscar-winning filmmaker Taika Waititi from 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, is set for theatrical release next year on May 6th.

Hemsworth captioned his post, “That’s a wrap on Thor Love and Thunder, it’s also national don’t flex day so I thought this super relaxed photo was appropriate. The film is gonna be bats— crazy off the wall funny and might also pull a heart string or two. Lots of love, lots of thunder! Thank you to all the cast and crew who made this another incredible Marvel journey. Buckle in, get ready and see ya in cinemas!! @taikawaititi @marvelstudios 📷 @jasinboland”

Photographer Jasin Boland commented on the post, “What am I going to do 10 hours a day without you two in my sights? Seeya soon boss 😉”

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘ Simu Liu wrote, “Jesus Christ I need to get in shape.”

The Avengers’ Hawkeye, Jeremy Renner wrote, “Congrats brother !!!”

Aquaman‘s Jason Momoa commented, “congratulations bro.”

Waititi posted the same photo on his Instagram writing, “Sometimes two people come together to inspire the world and change the cinematic landscape forever. And then there’s me and @chrishemsworth who are too cool to care about anything except making movies that bring people absolute joy. Ok I don’t look cool I know that. This film is the craziest thing I’ve ever done and I’m honoured to bust my a– and have a nervous breakdown so you can all see it in May 2022.”

Waititi wrote the fourth Thor installment with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, Deadline reports. The film stars Karen Gillan, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Matt Damon, Russell Crowe, Melissa McCarthy, Sam Neill, Sean Gunn, Jaimie Alexander and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher.

The Thor trilogy to date has grossed almost $2 billion at the global box office. Waititi’s Ragnarok is the highest-grossing installment in the series at over $850 million worldwide.
