Shailene Woodley Confirms Engagement to Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers

Shailene Woodley confirmed during an appearance on The Tonight Show Monday night that she’s engaged to Aaron Rodgers.

After being directly asked about her engagement to the Green Bay Packers quarterback, the 29-year-old said, “Yes, we are engaged, but for us it’s not new news, so it’s kind of funny everybody right now is freaking out over it. We’re like, ‘Yeah we’ve been engaged for a while.'”

The Big Little Lies star swooned over her 37-year-old fiancé in the interview, describing him as a “wonderful, incredible human being” and poked fun at the surprise of falling in love with a professional athlete saying, “I never thought I’d be engaged to someone who threw balls for a living. I never thought as a little girl, ‘Yeah when I grow up I’m going to marry someone who throws balls, yeah!’”

Woodley added that she and Rodgers met during the pandemic and has never watched one of his football games due to the stadium closures. She admits she had never seen a football game before meeting her fiancé, saying while growing up, sports were never really on her "radar."

She said, "When we met, also, I knew he was a football guy, but I didn't know like what kind of a football guy he was, and I'm still constantly learning."

Rumors of a romance between the Divergent star and the NFL player didn’t start swirling until earlier this month. Rodgers had mentioned his engagement and thanked his fiancée while accepting his third career MVP award on February 6 but didn't mention her name, ESPN reports.

Earlier this month, the couple spent a romantic Valentine's Day in Montreal, Canada, where Rodgers visited Woodley on-location of her latest movie Misanthrope, according to Daily Mail.

Rodgers last dated racing driver Danica Patrick until last July after two years together, dating Woodley soon after. Woodley was previously linked to Fijian rugby player Ben Volavola, who she met in 2017 while filming Adrift, before breaking it off in early 2020.
