Could The Tampa Street Cars Become The Next Mode Of Mass Transit?
The iconic Tampa street cars may become the next mass transit system in Tampa and that’s in thanks to a $67 million grant the system just received.
The Florida Department of Transportation and HART will work together to make the system faster and more accessible. The expected finish of the new system in 2026 and Tampa Mayor, Jane Castor, said by 2040, 100,000 people will be within walking distance of the streetcar system, and that’s why the system needs updating.
