CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - AUGUST 15: United States Postal Service (USPS) trucks are parked at a postal facility on August 15, 2019 in Chicago, Illinois. In its recent quarterly statement the USPS reported a loss of nearly $2.3 billion and a 3.2 percent decline in package deliveries, the first decline in nearly a decade. Imagine winning from a lottery game, then told you can’t get the prize? This is what happened to Sue in Hernando County.

Sue won $1,000 from the Second Chance Lottery game but had to rely on the US Postal Service to deliver her ticket to the main Tallahassee Florida Lottery ticket office. Since we are still in a pandemic, at the time of her winning, all of the local lottery offices were closed. When you win you can mail it in to claim your prize within a week, that’s what she ended up doing with USPS to send in her ticket via certified mail. It arrived at the Tallahassee post office but never arrived to the Florida Lottery office. That is very strange.  Now it’s October and there is no sign of the ticket.

The Florida Lottery said if the ticket is found and postmarked by the original deadline, Sue can get the money BUT who knows where it is… I’ve never won but I have always said IF I do, I would drive all the way to Tallahassee to get it myself. Whether it is for $1,000 or $1 Million, I will be there. I am a strong advocate for picking up your winnings in person.

I hope Sue gets a hold of her money. I bet she will never mail anything ever again.
