Dolly Parton Covers Billboard for The First Time
It’s hard to believe that a country music icon like Dolly Parton has never been on the cover of Billboard magazine until now.
Dolly posted about the new cover feature on her Instagram saying, “I’m so honored to be on the cover of @billboard for the very first time! Thank you Billboard for such a wonderful piece and @millermobley for the beautiful photos.”
In the lengthy article, Parton talks about many things including the Black Lives Matter movement, saying, “Of course Black Lives Matter,” and what life is like for her during COVID-19.
Dolly said of the pandemic and what it’s done to her many holdings including her Dollywood theme park, “Hopefully by coming back, we’ll pick up some stuff that we’ve lost. All of the things that I’m involved in are on hold, even my production companies and the movies — everything [took] a big hit. But I still believe, still trust God, and I’m still hoping for the best.”
As for her Billboard chart cred, Parton has 25 No. 1 singles on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart — the most of any female artist — and is also the only artist to have a top 20 hit on that chart in every decade from the 1960s to 2010s.
