Hillsborough County public schools have been scheduled to start on August 10th, but Addison Davis, the Schools Superintendent, wants the start date to be pushed to August 24th. Davis said in a statement, “One lesson the pandemic has taught the global community is that plans must be fluid to ensure the best outcomes for individual communities.” The school board will discuss his reopening plan today at 1pm. Davis also said they have a partnership with TGH and USF Health, which will “review all school, student, teacher, staff, visitor and transportation plans to make ensure all safety measures are under consideration and opportunities to educate the public exist before the start of the 2020-21 school year.”

Hillsborough Superintendent wants to push back first day of school to August 24

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Hillsborough County School Superintendent is looking to push back the first day of school for the 2020-2021 academic year. On Wednesday, Superintendent Addison Davis released a statement saying he is recommending the Hillsborough County School Board to delay the first day of school to August 24.
