First it was St. Pete, now Tampa has joined the list… but Tampa is going the extra step.

Tampa Mayor Jane Castor announced a mandatory mask ordinance for the city of Tampa. During today’s Hillsborough County Emergency Policy Group (EPG) meeting Tampa’s mayor laid out the plans. According to a spokesperson with Mayor Castor’s office, the order would require people to wear masks indoors in Tampa. The ordinance will go into effect Friday, June 19 at 5 p.m. ET.

St. Pete’s mask order only applies to employees of businesses who serve the public. Tampa’s ordinance includes EVERYONE. Members of Hillsborough County‘s emergency policy group say they will wait until Monday to decide whether to mandate face masks be worn at local businesses.
