Thomas Rhett Wanted To Release ‘Be A Light’ The Day He Wrote It
It’s been about three months since most of the United States went on lockdown and most of us have been forced to stay home because of the coronavirus.
Just a couple of weeks before that happened, parts of Nashville were devastated by two tornadoes, which felt like a one-two punch emotionally and economically for the city.
In the midst of watching everything unfold Thomas Rhett was reminded of a song he had written last year called “Be A Light.”
He shares,“I’ve been wanting to release ‘Be A Light’ since the day that I wrote it. And when all this stuff happened, I mean from the tornadoes in Nashville, now to the COVID-19/coronavirus, I feel like now there is no better time to release a song like ‘Be A Light.’ I just feel like the world was in darkness for a minute, and so I think a song like this can be really encouraging for people.”
Rhett then got the idea to invite some of his famous friends to sing on the song with him, including Reba, Keith Urban, contemporary Christian singer Chris Tomlin and Hilary Scott from Lady Antebellum, and he says, “When they jumped on the song, man, it just took it to a whole different level, and I am so proud of this song and really hope that this song can be an encouragement to people who are really going through kind of a tough time right now.”
