Florida’s Department of Economic Opportunity confirmed its reemployment assistance system was recently impacted in a “data security incident,” according to ABC Action News.
Users who were impacted by the incident would have received a notification and they will have identity protection services available to them at no charge.
It’s unclear when the data breach happened and what information was compromised. The department said it has not received any reports of malicious activity so far.
The department tweeted a reminder on Wednesday clarifying that a representative from the DEO will never ask you for your PIN number, debit card number, or direct deposit information.
Suspected scams can be reported by calling 1-833-352-7759 or visiting their website here.
