Need help with rent or utility bills? The City of Tampa has unveiled “The One Tampa: Relief Now, Rise Together” program. It provides financial help for both residents and businesses hit by the coronavirus closures.
Individuals can get up to $1,000 to use for rent or a mortgage and $250 for utilities. You’ll need to submit your income info. They say priority is being given to families with kids and households that have seen their income reduced by more than half. You must live in Tampa and be able to document your employment as of February 1. You also must have paid your 2018 property taxes. You can apply online for help starting Friday (April 17) at noon here. You can also apply over the phone by calling 211 and pressing 7.
Businesses can get up to $4,000 in assitance. There are a number of requirements regarding revenue, your business’ location and number of employees you have. Applications will be accepted beginning April 21 at noon here.
Fox 13 reports the Lightning, Rays and Bucs have all donated $100,000 to the fund.
