Tampa Bay Lost Out On A Lot Of Money After Sports Cancellations
The Tampa Bay area had five major sporting events that were cancelled because of the coronavirus and it has cost the area over $350 million. The events that were cancelled are: March Madness at Amalie Arena, Firestone Grand Prix in St. Pete, Valspar Championship golf tournament, Wrestlemania at Raymond James Stadium and spring training baseball. The total in lost economic impact: somewhere between $290 million and $390 million, according to a Tampa Bay Times analysis.
