Although he’s asking residents to stay home, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has stopped short of issuing a stay-at-home order for the state. He said in a press conference in The Villages that he hasn’t ruled the idea out. He’s just not willing to do it yet. After meeting with officials, Tampa Mayor Jane Castor announced she will put an order in place as soon as tomorrow (March 25). The order would allow for residents to get necessary things like food, gas or medical care. But it means non-essential things like salons and parks would be closed. This all after Hillsborough County voted not to enforce an order yesterday.
Fox 13 reports on their Facebook page that St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman says he’s considering a stay-at-home order for the city but also says Governor DeSantis should do so for the state first. But if he does not, Kriseman says “Expect to see something happening in the very near future.”
