Superbowl 55 is going to be in Tampa next year at Raymond James Stadium!

Mark it down on your calendar.  Sunday February 7th.

We have one year to get ready.

The last time Tampa hosted a Super Bowl was in 2009, when the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Arizona Cardinals 27-23.

They can sell 70,000 tickets to the Super Bowl – so that’s a lot of people coming to Tampa….but even more come for the festivities and of course the weather.

Already they are predicting it will be the Chiefs playing.   Late last night stye opened at 6 to 1 odds in Vegas to win Super Bowl 55.

The Baltimore Ravens are 7 to 1 and 49ers are 8 to 1.

Who should do the half-time show in Tampa?

Sure would be nice to see a country artist up there?  Maybe Kenny?  Aldean?  Luke?  Carrie?  Keith?

The city of Tampa is scrambling to get projects done for the game and all the people.

St. Petersburg Pier

The centerpiece of downtown St. Petersburg.   The new $92 million Pier and its 26-acre redeveloped site are projected to make their debut with a series of events starting in the spring and lasting through Independence Day.   Cannot wait for this…feels like its been forever.

JW Marriott

The $200 million-plus JW Marriott hotel is one of two projects that helped Tampa land the Super Bowl.   The other was the $160 million in renovations done at Raymond James Stadium in recent years.  JW Marriott is on schedule for completion in (the fourth quarter) of 2020, ahead of next year’s Super Bowl.

Midtown Tampa

The $550 million Midtown Tampa project about two miles south of Raymond James Stadium has been 20 years in the makingand developers have contractors working like crazy on multiple projects.   Midtown Tampa will include the bay area’s first REI, Whole Foods Market, 400 apartments, a dual-branded Aloft and Element hotel, a seven-story office building, a fitness trail, and a bunch of new restaurants.  I didn’t realize this was going on I guess… Can’t wait to see it tho.

There are a bunch of other projects that will be completed before Feb 7th….but one I didn’t see on the list here at TampaBay.com

was THE GANDY BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION!

Ugh… when is THAT going to be completed!  They gotta get that done…but is it even possible?
