The Bucs play the Cardinals this Sunday and I am not going to say that this is a must win game. The Bucs fell to 2-6 after losing in overtime to the Seahawks last week, so it is looking like another losing season. The Bucs finally return home after playing the last 4 away from home. Their last home game was against the Giants on September 22. Here are 3 things to look for when the Bucs play the Cardinals this Sunday at 1.
1 – Bruce Arians. He was the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals from 2013-2017 before taking a year off from coaching. I am sure that it will be good to see some of the players that he coached, but he needs to coach the Bucs players up. During a press conference this week he was asked about his mindset about preparing for the future and he said, “Everything that we do is about winning this week. We can’t play any more younger players because they’re all playing now.” He also said that he loves the effort of the players, but their effort hasn’t been enough on this 4 game losing streak.
2 – Kyler Murray. The #1 overall pick in this year’s NFL draft is the starting quarterback for the Cardinals. He has only thrown for 9 touchdowns this season, so the Bucs secondary should have an easier time this week. Russell Wilson threw 5 touchdowns against the Bucs last week and Kyler has 9 on the season. Kyler is also the leading rusher for the Cardinals and we know that the Bucs run defense is the best in the league. So, the secondary will have to do better than they have been doing and they have to stop Kyler from throwing the ball successfully.
3 – The Bucs offense. They scored 34 points last week in the overtime loss to the Seahawks, so we know they can score. The Cardinals are 29 out of 32 teams defending the pass, so Jameis Winston should have no problem finding Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, etc. The Cardinals also give up 123 yards rushing yards per game, so the running game should be able to run the ball effectively all game. Here’s what they can’t do…turn the ball over. That has been their problem all year, so if they can cut down the turnovers they will give them a great chance to win.
"There’s a lot of football left to get into the hunt. You’ve got to win one to get a string of them going, and we need to win one."— Tampa Bay Buccaneers (@Buccaneers) November 6, 2019
