At least 50 patrons of the Pelican Pub in downtown St. Pete have said they have developed a rash after visiting the pub. The owners have voluntarily and temporarily closed the pub. What caused the rash is not known and the Department of Health responded to a claim, but only found two single bed bugs and one palmetto bug. Neither of them would cause the rash.
The pub is going to remove a questionable bench and replace it with a regular wood bench. When the pub re-opens you will no longer be able to write on the bench, which was done on the previous bench.
The owner says, “First, we have contacted pest control to treat the space immediately, and second, we will be replacing the entire bench beginning today.”
