Tampa Bay’s Morning Krewe

Weekdays 6:00AM - 10:00AM

Alright, we have made it through the preseason and the 2019 NFL season is here. The Bucs host the 49ers at 4:25 on Sunday. If you are going to the game I hope you get there early to see Tim McGraw perform a full concert before the game.  We also see the return of John Lynch, who is now the general manager for the 49ers. Here are 3 things to look forward to about the game.

1 – Bruce Arians. The Bucs head coach will be coaching his first regular season game since the end of the 2017 season. He has won two Super Bowl’s as a coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has been an offensive coordinator in the past, but will not be calling the plays.  Offensive coordinator, Byron Leftwich, is handling the play calling duties.

2 – The offense. The Bucs were the #1 passing offense last season, but were the 29th rushing offense. The Bucs need to be able to run the ball on Sunday, so Jameis Winston isn’t asked to do everything offensively.  Peyton Barber and Ronald Jones II are the top two running backs, so look for them to get the running game going.

3 – The defense. They were the 31st ranked team defense last season out of 32 teams, so obviously that needs to get better for them to win games. Ex-New York Jets head coach, Todd Bowles, is the new defensive coordinator and has brought the 3-4 defense with him. The defense will get their opportunity on Sunday against the 49ers quarterback, Jimmy Garappolo, who was injured in week 3 of last season with a torn ACL. The Bucs need to make Jimmy feel uncomfortable in the pocket since he is coming off that injury.
