Most people have a setting they like to set their thermostat too before they go to bed, but you’d be surprised at what setting you’re supposed to put it at!
Energy Star, the federal program from the DOE and the Environmental Protection Agency, said the coolest you should keep your home is 78 degrees when you’re home. 78 degrees?! We don’t know how to feel about this setting, especially in Florida…during the summer.
The report went on to say that while you’re away the thermostat should be set to 85. When you’re sleeping, Energy Star said to set the thermostat at 82 degrees.
What do you think? Are these temps too hot or too cold for you? What do you set your thermostat to?
