Salt and pepper, peanut butter and jelly...tacos and Tuesdays. They are all synonymous with one another, but could we get sued for saying one of them?

Cheyenne-based Taco John’s, which has nearly 400 locations in 23 states, trademarked “Taco Tuesday” 30 years ago! They have since sent out many cease-and-desist letters to people have used the phrase.

So, should they be able to control the use of "Taco Tuesday?"

The most recent offender? A brewery near a Taco John's location. Here's an excerpt from the letter they fired off to the brewery:

“We certainly appreciate our fellow community member’s enthusiasm for tacos on Tuesdays, and the term is often used inadvertently,” read the letter addressed to “Sir or Madam” at Freedom’s Edge Brewing Co. “However, it is still extremely important to us to protect our rights in this mark.”
