Which is it… Are the Tampa Bay Rays sticking around or are they moving? We might get some answers pretty soon. During Tuesday’s Hillsborough County Commission meeting, Commissioner Ken Hagan brought up a new proposal to keep the Tampa Bay Rays in the Tampa Bay area and reeled in the Ybor City idea again.
“Theoretically, it could be a smaller, multi-use facility that could be used by the Rays, it could be used for the Rowdies, spring training, and other events. We should move forward in this direction, irrespective of if the Rays make that their future home.” – Commissioner Ken Hagan
According to Fox 13 News, The city would have to amend its use agreement to allow the team to officially explore that option.
Fox 13 News asked St. Pete officials about the meeting and received this statement:
“The city had another cordial meeting with team officials and we expect to have more. We will be refraining, however, from reporting out the details of these meetings.’’
I guess it is still unclear what the future of the Rays are but I am not hating the idea of a multi-use stadium. Hopefully we will get concrete answers soon…
