Tampa Bay’s Hometown Morning Krewe

Weekdays 6:00AM - 10:00AM

Florida’s tax-free weekend takes place Aug. 2 to Aug. 6, making these five days a great time to shop for school supplies, clothing and electronics.

The Florida tax-free weekend kicks off at 12:01 a.m. Aug. 2 and ends 11:59 p.m. Aug. 6. During that time, the state sales tax of 6% will be waived on select items. Local option taxes will also be waived.

Here’s what qualifies (no tax will be charged on these items):

  • Clothing priced at $60 or less per item
  • School supplies priced at $15 or less per item
  • Computers and accessories priced at $1,000 or less per item

Items over these thresholds will be taxed, based on the full purchase price of the item. Good news though, online shopping is included in the tax free shopping period! The items must still fall within the ‘tax free’ guidelines.
