Heartbreaking Video Shows Dolphin Mom Carrying Dead Calf
This is AWFUL! It breaks my heart to see this!
You’re gonna be sad if you watch this video. It’s a mom dolphin carrying her dead calf. She keeps pushing it and rolling it. I don’t know if she is trying to move it, wake it up or what….but it’s hard to watch.
The mother dolphin rolls over several times with the baby and a second dolphin is also seen trying to help keep the calf afloat in the intracoastal water near Clearwater Beach.
It’s hard to say for sure without examination, but the calf may have been hit by a boat.
Ugh.
The journal Zoology says dolphins often hold onto the body of a calf long after death.
