Do You Have This Gold Star On Your Florida Driver License?
Go grab your wallet and take our your Florida driver’s license. Look in the top right. Is there a gold star? If it’s not there, you might need to head to the DMV.
Next time you go to get your license renewed, you’ll get an updated version. You’ll notice one big change right away. Those magnetic strips on the back are going away and some new security features are being added, according to Channel 10. If you have one of those older licenses without the gold star in the top right, you’re going to have to make a trip to the DMV to get one. Why? If you want to board a flight, you’re going to need a license that is “REAL ID compliant” as of October 1 of next year. Otherwise, you’ll need to bring some other form of ID with you.
