The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is looking for the person who threw a kitten out of a moving car.

The Humane Society is now offering a $6,000 reward for information to find the person responsible for this awful act, according to Creative Loafing.

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay offered up a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest, which was then matched by another $500 from a generous supporter. NOW, it is all the way up to $6000. PETA has added an additional $5000, according to a press release.

“It takes a chilling lack of empathy to toss an animal out of a car window and keep on driving,” says PETA Vice President Colleen O’Brien in a statement. “The other kittens in the litter this one came from are in danger every minute they spend in the custody of this cruel person, which is why PETA urges anyone with information about this case to come forward now, before it’s too late.”

Good thing for that Samaritan who saw the cat thrown into the street and jumped into traffic to save the kitten.

According to WFLA, Abandoning an animal is a misdemeanor punishable by jail time and up to a $5,000 fine. The Humane Society hopes to press charges if they find the person responsible.
