You Can Take Friendly Tampa Shelter Dogs On Field Trips
“Doggy Day Out” gives shelter dogs a chance to step out on the town with the help of YOU.
The program at Friends of Strays in St. Petersburg let’s you bring their friendly shelter dogs out on field trips starting May 31st.
According to Friends of Strays, Doggy Day Out was created in order to help reduce kennel stress and provide Friends of Strays’ dogs with enrichment and increased visibility. Outings also give shelter staff valuable insight on how the dogs behave in new environments, which helps place dogs in homes where they’ll find a happy fit.
I can think of a lot of places you can take the dogs: hiking, the beach, the park, and even just chillin’ on the couch.
It’s great to get people more familiar with local animal shelters and gives attention to dogs that don’t normally get it. This would be dangerous in my house, I’ll end up adopting all the dogs I take on field trips. I guess that is the point, and I am sure it will work in their favor.
To sign up for the program, go to the Friends of Strays Animal Shelter, fill out a short questionnaire, and you’ll be on your way. The animal shelter is located at 2911 47th Ave. N. in St. Petersburg.
