Channel 8 reports crews will start tearing down the west side of University Mall this morning. This is the area where there was a JC Penney. They say it’ll be a billion dollar project. Plans are moving ahead to put in new restaurants, office space, a research complex, movie theater, and residential space with fitness and health centers.
Oh man, I could write a thesis on why some malls survive and some don’t and why... but like many things (like radio), it boils down to “evolve or die.”

It might be a while but I’d bet Westshore since it’s so close to International. 15ish yrs ago I’d have said Pinellas Park.
